Fornals & Emerson
over Benny and Cresswell for the final?

That would sit comfortably with me, I think Pablo offers more defensively and equally going forward with a view to bring Benny on later.

Cresswell for experience but Emerson for pace

Re: Fornals & Emerson

My team for final would be:

-----------------------Areola

Kerher-----Zouma------Aguerd------Emerson

---------------Rice---------Paqueta

---------------------Fornals

Bowen-----------Antonio-------------Benrahma

With instructions to be positive and get forward at all times.

Re: Fornals & Emerson
Cresswell starting doesn't bother me as much now we've got s viable alternative.

Emerson is much improved after a shakey start, like most of them actually.

Although I still wake up with cold sweats thinking about those two reds Cress got in the euros last season. Fiorentina might target him in a similar way if he starts.

You want Mubama to start the final over Antonio!

Steady
Agreed, been saying the same. Fornals has scored more of late.
Our set pieces aren't great at the moment.
Kehrer over Coufal.
Coufal is clumsy and doesn't cross well.
Mubama for Antonio too.

Re: Fornals & Emerson
I'd stick with Kehre, I like the way he tries to get us on the front foot with his passing. We need pace too and he's been good recently.

He's also played in a champions league final I think?

So won't be daunted by the occasion

Just leave the beanpole in the middle on the bench for starters.

Re: Fornals & Emerson
Coufal doesn't get a nosebleed when he crosses the halfway line. Kehrer is a good defender but he's a centre half playing full back

Re: Fornals & Emerson
Cresswell has looked less slow since Benrahma started tracking back properly. Funnily enough, Benrahma has been started much more regularly since he started tracking back properly.

I wonder if these things are related and if they might possibly have been coached? It's only taken two years to get it through Benrahma's noggin that he has defensive duties too. He's still prone to a defensive ricket, but he does now at least make the effort.

Cresswell more likely to get an assist from a set piece

Re: Fornals & Emerson
Yeah only the Coufal vs Kehrer choice is debatable for Moyes. Kehrer has pace and would be my preference as Fiorentina have some quick wingers but I reckon Moyes goes for Coufal because :
1) he’s one of his older guard
2) the game is in Prague and both Czech lads will be desperate to play and it might help get the neutrals on our side?

The last reason is emotional / less tangible but very much what Moyes will do as opposed to thinking how he tactically sets up to counter the opposition. I think we saw it in the semi final where only after the first leg against the Dutch he said he sat us deeper but also asked the front men to press more as he and his coaches were “surprised” how they set up and played at the LS. Didn’t do his homework? Very much old skool “let them worry about us” ?

Anyway, we have to hope going with the Czech lads ( esp Soucek ) means they play out of their skin in front of their brethren?

I'd be starting with Kehrer and Emerson over the old guard.

Re: Fornals & Emerson
Swap Fornals for Soucek and it’s a decent side. I’d personally have Kehrer over Coufal based on his last few performances being quite decent

Re: Fornals & Emerson
For Cresswell’s faults, he doesn’t completely switch off like Emerson did for Brentford’s first last week, and that’s not the first time he’s done it. I do rate Emerson most of the time but he’s too risky. Not sure if its concentration or laziness.

I reckon he'll go with Fornals over Benrahma.

Re: Fornals & Emerson
100%. Barring injuries we all know what the starting line up will be. Only possible question mark over RB. I reckon Coufal gets the nod TBH.

Areola

Coufal
Aguerd
Zouma
Cresswell

Rice
Paqueta
Soucek

Benrahma
Antonio
Bowen

And you can basically take that to the bank.

Re: Fornals & Emerson
cresswell's a certainty, the other side could be a tough choice. I'd stick with kehrer but he may give coufal the nod
